Josep M. Gallart
Founder & Chief Designer – AudioNostrum
Born in Barcelona, Josep M. Gallart holds a degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Technological Change Research from the University of Barcelona, where he specialized in the intersection of science, knowledge, and society in the Information Age.
His academic work has been rooted in neuroscience and auditory perception, having contributed to scientific research on how the human brain processes sound. His participation in cutting-edge studies includes auditory evoked potentials to explore cortical mechanisms involved in language segmentation, and ERP-based spatial localization of sound in the brains of orchestra conductors—research that delves into neuroplasticity and spatial auditory cognition.
Gallart’s approach to high-end loudspeaker design is uniquely informed by this scientific background. Driven by a deep passion for music and how it impacts the human brain, he develops audio systems based on a profound understanding of auditory signal processing. For him, a loudspeaker is more than a technical device—it is a means to connect emotion, perception, and musical experience.
His innovations culminated in the development and patent of the Orbital Driver System (ODS), an advanced sound projection technique. This system creates synergistic acoustic reflections using hyper-exponential curves, based on the positive interference between paired drivers operating across different frequency bands. The result is a natural and immersive soundstage that harmonizes with the way our auditory system is wired to perceive space and depth.
At AudioNostrum, Gallart brings together science and artistry under the guiding principle: Art and Technology. Every product is an expression of his personal vision—loudspeakers not just built but conceived as true musical instruments capable of reproducing the full emotional and spatial complexity of sound.
